Taking feedback from people I added more oses to my mobile os flowchart. I included Microsoft and Apple oses. I included as much as the space would allow.

QNX cant be a result of symbian since it is 20years older than symbian and completely different.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QNX
RTOS cant be a os since it is a definition.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real-time_operating_system

Also linux, bsd and qnx has their roots in unix, which inturn has its roots in multics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multics
also, win 1,2 and finally 3 to 3.11 and windows for workgroups, are very different from winNT but also predates winNT. OS/2 should also be there since winNT=os/2 ver3.

Qnx wasn't tied to symbian, both symbian and QNX are RTOSES and symbian has its roots with PSION EPOCH. Also mobile Windows efforts didn't begin until NT and CE.

Then why do you have an arrow saying that QNX is a version of symbian thru RTOS... and now even samsung.

"mobile use" is misleading, plenty of mobile phones had oses made for desktop computers including nokia9000/9100.
DOS was also used in parallell with epoc for PDAs on plenty of devices (atari portfolio and HP) before mobiles had any ability to do more than phonecalls (and later) sms.
-You really need to define what you are talking about... is it iconcolours, windowborders and interfacegestures ... or is it the actual os behind the hood you are trying to make a history of.

BTW, linux also has some RTOS versions, aswell as windows.

Linux is 'unix-like', but it has not been started from any unix code. You can't connect them unless arrows show conceptual similarities....

Edit: well, it turns out that I don't understand exactly what arrows mean, so maybe Linux should be connected to Unix too. :P
