My watch of many years is starting to flake out. This forum contains various threads that aids one in buying phones, computers and other electronics. Please use this thread to let us all know the make and model number of your watch and the main reasons for purchasing it. I presently have a Luninox Cadet analog watch which I bought several years ago for about $125 (US). The main reason I chose this watch is because I needed a watch that glows brightly in the dark without pressing any buttons. I has chemical filled tubes that last up to 10 years. I now would like to have a watch that some how syncs with my Google Calendar. There were "smart watches" several years back that use MSN Direct which streamed data off a sub-carrier from your local FM broadcast radio station. MSN Direct is now a thing of the past. Another alternative would be a watch that you can upload a text file that alows you to display a "to do" list on the phone. Like I said, use this thread for relating any information about any kinds of watches so that this can be a "Wrist Watch Buyers Guide".

Here is a "smart watch" from Inpulse. One major drawback, you need to charge battery after just 4 hours. Price $150.

@kangal - That Seiko watch looks like a good choice for me. I especially like the "LumiBrite" glow in the dark coating.

I spent alot of time looking at the various Seiko watches and decided on a solar powered one, model SNE056. I am either indoors under bright fluorescent light our outside in the sun. I seldom wear long sleave shirts. I paid $125 at a retail Kohls store. Instead of a rechargable battery, which needed to be replaced eventually, these watches use a button cell capacitor. You can leave it in a drawer for three days before it gets drained. When the cap gets low, the "second" hand will step in increments of 2 rather than 1. There is a "dress" version that has a black face and no numbers. Other models have metal bands instead of leather strap.

Nice.

Remember, watches come in all shapes, colours, sizes, formats.
It's an accessory.
And you need to find one which you love it greatly, and that would reflect to everyone else your sense of style/fashion.

Some will say it is just like a phone, I disagree. The choices for (smart)phones is very limited, unlike watches. What if you want iOS and a physical keyboard? What if you want N900 with 4.5" screen? What if you want a EPIC 4G with GSM/3G frequencies?

$20 digital Armitron's my favorite. It's been working for ~4 years so far, despite being bashed into more things than I can count, warn 24/7, 365(aside from baths & showers), and being scratched all to hell.
It's got a stopwatch, alarm and backlight - what more could you ask for? Especially for the price...

It's amazing how today we can buy watches that display our heart rate, track our workouts (gps), display altitude, barametric pressure and ambient temperature. I would still, someday, like a "Dick Tracy" type watch that does video communication. But for now, I am happy with my new Seiko solar powered watch.
