well i just bought this n900 which was shipped from the U.S. i have had for 20days now and yesterday it developed a problem after installing mplayer and the front-end loading a big movie clip twilight breaking don II in the middle of watching the movie the screen went blank! i slid the lock key it went on/off then on for about 2minutes then off and on. now this is the all thing : the screen flickers when am using the phone, goes into lock mode even when am typing and when i pull the lock to turn it off at times it turns its self back on. at times it flickers for more than 30 seconds and then stops at once, i have never dropped the phone in water or the ground or repaired it for anything. i have done a clean but still not solved, i have had mplayer in the phone for 3days and it never brought any problem until i watched the movie,tried extending backlight to 10mins but still no good Good part: this guys gave me 1month written durability "guarantee" so am asking before i approach them what could be the problem? possible out come?

i have tried to slide the phone up and down to see if it will flicker but no it doesn't meaning that the ribbon could be in good condition secondly when it goes blank it goes in lock mode like as if i had pulled the lock key down, i have also tried to play with the lock key to see if it will flicker but it doesn't. it does it randomly around 3-4 times a day.

may be lock slider ? my N900 also developed same behavior for few days until it started to behave normal again after few days. check my thread http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=90839
