Yes, from now on, we shall believe in the rules!

Seriously, ignoring dumb rules is an American tradition from time immemorial.

Seriously though, it's been in the forum rules since time immemorial. We should've read the rules before coming and making use of the forum anyway...
Compared to the endless "PR1.2" threads any posts on religion or politics would be tame in comparison.

For Christ's sake I would rather see "No PR1.2 topics allowed".

who gets to decide which rule is stupid and which not?

the rules are rules, they must be obeyed or changed. there is no such option unless every single thought of a guy involves I/me/my/mine/...

I'll second that.
Does anything with 'less rules' exist out there? Symbian-freak seemed like a good alternative (tag line of "free to talk about anything") but in reality the moderation is much heavier than here.

@ysss: Not a bad idea!

I can understand how heated relgious debates can be.

Maybe it would make more sense to say "We reserve the right to remove any religious discussions (e.g. preaching, inciting hatred, steve jobs)".

I'm not religious in the slightest (could never take it seriously) but I am interested in other opinions about it and respect other beliefs.

of course they can be bended. but announcing that "I wont obey rules because they are stupid" is a whole another thing....
