Since I installed the Gmail "notifier" on my desktop computer that provides internet access to my N800, I no longer gets email alerts on the NIT. If I click on "view e-mail inbox" the new email is not there. But if I go to the Gmail website it shows up. In the past when a new email came in my blue LED would flash and I would hear a sound alert. Even with "mnotify" installed, I get no new email alerts. It is set to check every 5 minutes. Must I uninstall the Gmail notifier on my desktop?

Update: I uninstalled the "Gmail Notifier" that I had downloaded from Google and the email alerts started to work on my N800. I then downloaded a different notifier from http://www.gmailnotifier.com and it still works.

I must now go to the Gmail website to "see" my new email.

I use Thunderbird on my desktop to filter my emails after I have read them... I do it like once ever few weeks, it keeps the inbox folder itself from getting way too big.

Is this the mnotify applet? I tried it a long time ago and gave up on it.
I now use Modest pulling email from gmail via imap, and generally it works flawlessly, checking every 5 minutes

It works alright. I really hate when it fails with the password sending and stuff... Cause it's like 'Password wrong' when it's obviously correct. I made as script called kmail to invoke killall modest.
