i recently installed NITDroid on my N900, but there is only one option (NITDroid's) in the bootmenu.

* I tried:
>Copied .ITEM files from /multiboot.d/examples/ into /multiboot.d/
>created an .ITEM file in PC and sent it via Bluetooth, then moved it to /multiboot.d/

... but none worked

I don't like to re-flash my phone again.. so please help me get back to maemo

You forgotten about maemo-kernel. Just unpack deb and copy files to maemo.
