Why do need a open kernel? Lots of people wants it. very few needs it.

then they just let go of flashing it.
Some needs it. For IP tables NAT and packet injection but also Nitdroid will need it. Just to mention a few examples.

Still trying to make it boot. I made the patches needed. It compiles, but its stuck on boot, at Nokia logo, black screen.
Seems drunkendebugger (tge creator of Nitdroid) have it working. But nothing released.
My believe now it may be bad download of the sources. Or wrong version of gcc (I use scratchpad)

People, is it true that nobody yet posted a patched open mode kernel for PR1.2?
I'm still stuck in PR1.1 because I need open mode for chroot and other hacks...

ps: I noticed that the same question was made yesterday, sorry.

I keep visiting the two most likely places (javispedro and joergw) for a patched open kernel to appear, but no luck so far!

I'm starting to suspect there's something wrong with this new kernel. Either it isn't the right kernel for the device, or Nokia has made it so you can't boot to an open kernel anymore. Both dreadful thoughts.

Well if he has it working why on earth doesn't he share it immediately!?

Dear God I hope you're very wrong, especially that latter scenario.
If the latter scenario eventuates, that's the death knell for Maemo 6x.

I doubt that, however its not directly supported supported by nokia so it's taking a while. I'm sure a few people have the kernel up and running.

Open mode with some restrictions or semi open unstable mode.

It Will boot. Drunkdebugger is using an openmode kernel, pr1.2, for NITdroid. He didnt officially release yet.i know he is missing chroot issues (probably the problem there is kmod.c). If anyone have the time, look at his github.

compiled vanila kernel too, not boot after reflashing.

so, for just open mode you can reflash original firmware
Code:
flasher -F firmware30.bin --flash-only=kernel -f -R
it will set open mode anyway.
and then use INCEPTION for installing opensh.
