I am pretty sure I saw someone with a screenshot of a desktop widget showing current cpu frequency and max cpu freq. It wasn't DEW as it was in colour. Though DEW was also in use. Any ideas?

I have cpufrequi installed.

Oh cool - good one.

Not what I was thinking of though - this seemed to be a frequency specific widget.
