I just got my Nexus 7, a beautiful machine unfortunately I seem to have limited OS options.
When I got my N900 after breaking my last Sharp Zaurus SL5500 I was at home in minutes.
I didnt even bother with Android choosing to blow it off for Ubuntu Touch, which is fortunately very easy to do on the Nexus(easy OEM tool unlock bootloader) and the hardware looks pretty sweet.
Ubuntu touch is simply not an easy to use version of Ubuntu, the repos are pretty limited and the app store requires logging in rather than normal apt repos.
Is there no oasis for a guy who only wants a real linux experience?
I have no idea how I will ever get stuff to compile on the tablet.
I would just like for the Ubuntu tablet to be SSH ready, for the USB OTG to automount a flash drive, to associate properly with my N900 using QtMobileHotspot.
Not to mention having normal apt so I can get the dependencies I need so I can git and compile weird stuff.
Where is a tablet I can feel at home with?

Not sure if same nexus though, compiling on SFOS is a breeze (unless you run into 37mb cpp file)

Too bad that sailfish image is for the 2012 and not the 2013 hardware rev.

It looks like the 2012(grouper) is supported pretty well but the current(2013/flo) is not working yet.

I wish we had a nice Maemo skinned Debian(or Ubuntu Touch mod) for this thing with less trying to be a phone or have one store to rule them all and more pocket computer Linux awesomeness, which is what Maemo is.

Well damnit....
The SIM went out in my N900.
Seriously considering a Nexus 4 for my wife, flash with Ubuntu Touch in hopes it improves, and take her N900.
