Not sure if it needs a new thread, but merge it with an existing one if not.

Just posted on Jolla's Facebook page an hour ago:
Golla phone accessory maker suing Jolla

Can't see where the confusion is going to come from, IMO.
One company will be making an awesome smartphone, the other will be making a bag to put it in.

Its much ado nothing i.e. a PR-stunt by Golla most probably as the following quote shows Jolla is quite safe:

The approval authority has dealt with Golla and Jolla brands and found that they are not too close to each other. No, we do not believe there is a risk that customers will confuse Jolla phone to Golla bags. - Antti Saarnio, Chairman of the Board at Jolla

Of course we need a new thread even if the off topic threads was way ahead as always.

they pronounced Jolla as "Yolla", it doesn't sound that much like "Golla"

That doesn't mean anything (like, strictly speaking, any trademark or patent). The question is, if it goes to trial, what the judge will decide.

Luckily this is happening in a civilized country (Finland). Imagine if that was happening in the US!

In the Netherlands there was a tv channel that was going to be named: Me.
They were sued by WE, a clothing store.
We won.
