if jolla would charge me £100 for a nexus5 sailfish image i would pay it in an instant!

I'm glad you don't price anything I'd actually buy. Charging extra just because you think the market can bear it why certain brands are currently failing.

I'd pay that for support. Not for the image. I can get a great Android ROM - think Cyanogenmod - for free. But support, I'd pay for that. New features, I'd pay for that. But if it's based off MeeGo, which is opensource, no. But for their Ambience and UI, that's worth something. But support is where the money is at - ask Red Hat.

turns out Kangal is right, the nexus 5 is priced into impulse-buy territory.

got board of waiting for news and decided to see if the local carphonewarehouse had any of the £295 nexus5's in stock.

they did.

i maintain that android is still a-bit-toss, but the hardware is lovely.

Anybody try GIMP Inkscape? Search GIMP in play store. Just wish I had the 64GB N3 now!

Running it on galaxy note. Its working but its not easy to use. Will try it on note10 some other day. Nice to see it work.

Somethings happening in the background.

Firstly Nexus 5 gets upgrade to v4.4.1 which fixes the "washed out" photos and improves shutter substantially.

I can say now, that phone isn't just an impulse buy...it's a no brainer. The Moto G is also great bang for buck, but a worse phone. The Nexus 7 got some Black Friday and Cyber Monday discounts which slashed $40 off. Then nVidia Shield was on a Super discount ($249 + free pouch + PlayStore Voucher).

Anyways that's not what I came to post about.
Android is related to Linux but doesn't run our Apps, our commands, or support our frameworks or GUI.

Hi Kangal. ZShaolin was a real nice find!. Works great with hackers keyboard. I converted a png to jpeg file from terminal. No problem. Also I can now use some commands like ls -ltr which was missing from terminal. Vi and Vim worked well too.
