Alright, I'm not sure what a fair bounty is for this, but someone once started a C&C RA port for the NIT. They abandoned it and someone else started briefly, and then walked away. And since nobody else wants to create one, I'm gonna toss out a bounty for it. Part of the work is already done (if you can still get the existing dev files), so most of it is just finishing it up, and adding some tweaks.

However, I want to toss in one little caveat extra. I've found it a ton more enjoyable to play the expansion, Counterstrike, than the original game. If you can finish the original port, and add the extras from the Counterstrike expansion, I'm willing to pay a bounty for it.

I'll offer $20 to start, and if someone else wants to chip in on the bounty, we can make it even higher. And if you can also make it available for Linux Mint/Ubuntu as well (the traditional version doesn't play well via wine), I might just toss in an extra $20.

Anyone interested?

EDIT: Since this apparently got dropped *again*, and nobody has any interest (and my tablet's dead now anyways), I'm canceling the bounty.

And if someone wants to take on the challenge - here are linman's sources for his port /without the mix files/:

Sure, I'll have a stab at it, been browsing through happypenguin for days searching for more games to add to port.

Although, what's wrong with linman's port? It works flawlessly for the 10 minutes I tried it. Or is this for use on maemo5?

Well, he himself said that the work wasn't completely done, even if it is quite far along. Plus I'm looking to expand it slightly to include the stuff from the Counterstrike expansion. Especially the maps. Plus I'm also, as an added extra, looking for a Linux PC port too, if possible.

Ah, I guess there could be some interface/input fixes. I'll look into it.

As for a PC port, why not just compile http://freera.sourceforge.net/ FreeRA on your distro?

Well, I *could*, but last I checked the FreeRA project was dead. Likely because Westwood released the original RA for free.

No, there's still no RA for Linux, other than FreeRA, but as I said, that project is dead.

Hmm, the other free implementation looks promising and active. Last commit was July 01, 2009. And there's even a prebuild deb package for ubuntu: http://code.google.com/p/openredalert/ , for your PC Linux needs. As for a maemo port, I'll try my best. (I found the latest/last freera revision very buggy... it kept spawning reinforcements non-stop for the other team )

If RA1 is released as freeware then maybe the mix data files are allowed to be distributed.
