I cannot find the place where you can adjust a time delay before the screen gets locked.. is there one?

are you talking about screen lock (key lock) or phone lock its self
for a keylock i dont think there is a time setting to adjust , you have a switch on the bottom of the phone or you can double click power button that will lock you screen
phone lock is under settings scroll to the bottom and its called device lock
