I always used to set my alarm on Nokia phone and turn them off once the time they would turn on and the alarm would go off.

It worked with N9 but one time it never turned on has to re-flash it since then I my nexus 7 as my alarm. I really hope that Jolla fixes the issues with alarm.

Talouselämä magazine has article "The display of Jolla handset in the world's first test - a surprising result" in Finnish.

Jolla-luurin näyttö maailman ensimmäisessä testissä - yllättävä tulos
http://www.talouselama.fi/uutiset/jo...s/a2219060?s=n

Short translation of the summary:

Jolla's display reproduces colors close to the ideal precision. This is rare on the mobile front, as usually the color reproduction of tablets and smartphones is bad. Jolla's brightness, contrast and white balance, however, are only average.

The information is based on the measurements of MPC laboratory.

Edit: Some info based on the article:

Jolla reproduces sRGB color space: 101,6%
Only better smartphones are Apple iPhone 5 (104,0%) and HTC One (101,8%).
For example Nokia Lumia 920: only 84,8%

Greens are slightly supersaturated, red tones are little flat. Naked eye cannot detect them.

Jolla's white balance is weak. Normal consumer equipment has white tone of 6500 K, Jolla's white is more than 8400 K.

Jolla's brighness: less than 350 cd/m
Best smart phones: typically 400-500 cd/m
Very best: more than 600 cd/m

Jolla's contrast: 640:1 contrast ratio, only average
Good mobile LCD: minimum 1000:1
Best: up to nearly 2000:1

Did your Jolla cause that too?

Not a good phone if it doesn't let you go to sleep and wakes you up earlier than it should

Seems like they had to choose - a good panel with a slightly lower resolution, or a 720p crap panel.
I'm happy with their choice, I rather see the occasional pixel than have unbalanced colours or darker/brighter areas on the display etc.
Maaaybe even a hypothetical N9esque LPS could be reasonably possible without ruining the display and consuming lots of power.

it's ok. select the panel to keep costs down so they can ship a device with a decent entry price instead of high price (remember they don't have economies of scale like Apple or Samsung yet; so they need to keep it real).

i'm sure they will offer better hardware if they get to their target sales numbers.

The Contacts Application (People)

"everything you could want to know but were afraid to ask"

I refer to contacts, but they are referred to as people on the Jolla, not sure why as they are not just people but could include companies etc. In fact Jolla refers to them as contacts in the Phone application!

Please not ethese are my experiences and I have tried to state information rather than judgement, not always easy though.

Firstly getting my names across via bluetooth only worked for a handful of contacts. Facebook contacts work fine on facebook sync.
Facebook user image is used as the avatar
Clicking on the avatar you can
Select another from gallery (phone memory only, not SD card)
Remove avatar
Deleting multiple contacts is not possible, they can only be deleted one by one.
If you have a lot of contacts under one letter you have to scroll up and down to get back to the all contacts view, not very easy.
You can’t reorder the phone details within contacts or chose the primary number.
You can view a list of all online contacts.
No ability to group contacts.
You can set a contact as a favourite, which appears at the top of the contacts page.
This is done by clicking on the star outline which is then filled
If you have favourites that have avatars the will appear in moving tiles when the contact application is minimised.
Recent call shows below favourites on the contacts page
Quality of the Avatars is far better than the N9
There is no information from Facebook such as last status update
There is an indicator to show if they are live on facebook chat
This shows as a small green box under the facebook logo next to the avatar
On a list view is shows as a short green bar under the contact name
There is no integration with Twitter
In the people App front screen you can pull menu for
add contact and search
Within each contact the pull down menu for:-
Edit, share, link, delete
.
On the contact list view a long press on a contact allows you to:-
Edit, add to favourite, delete
You cannot add a contact to the apps screen as an icon

Contacts option in the settings, app menu
Change to show last name first
Change to sort by last name
Import contacts from sim car
Import Contacts from File
I think that is Contacts/People covered. Needs some work still but is very useable IMHO
