A new month and a new competition. You probably didin't expect this one.
Here's what ste-phan said:
"As smartphone photographer you carry your camera with you most of the time. This month when you turn a corner and see something unexpected in the scene, abandoned, out of place or space or even an encounter with other beings, take a moment, shoot and post this picture here."

The rules:
Photos must be taken during this month.
Photos must be taken by the posting member.
Photos must be taken with a camera phone.
Users can change the entry only once.
Last three days of this month are for voting.
Users must name the phone they used.

I wish you happy shooting! Lots of time to get a good entry, I know I will.

Last month's competition.

Congrats to ste-phan for winning again. I might try to enter the competition.

Quick question: Is developing from raw (on the N900 itself) allowed? Not completely clear from the ongoing discussions. And HDR images?

RAW is allowed because it was shot "undeveloped" already in the phone. HRD only if shot in phone.

Here is my entry which I will probably change.
This butterfly was constantly moving about, I didn' expect them this time of the year but it's a bit sunny as well. A bit odd again as it's November...

Hi,

I would like to share this photo; unexpected, because the weather had to be rainy... The birds at the backgrund are cranes.
Taken with n900 (FCamera), ISO 100, exposure O.7 sec; processed with ufraw.

So, I was driving thru a city far away from home, when I noticed a signpost saying "The Orthodox church of Hagia Sophia >".

I surely did not expect this. More than thousand kilometers from Constantinople (closer to thousand miles, in fact, as I have checked later). More than five centuries since Hagia Sophia ceased to be a church. I just had to follow the sign.

It turned out that local Orthodox community had built Hagia Sophia lookalike (much, much smaller, of course), dedicated it just like the original and even managed to get Patriarch of Constantinople to open the church.

It was dark, the moon was rising behind the church, and I stupidly decided to use digital zoom to frame the image (yet still some lantern made it to the photo). So, another thing I did not expect -- how poor will the result be. But having nothing better for this month -- here it is.

Made with N9.

I was sat motionless on the M25. Not, in itself, surprising. I looked up and saw this:

which did rather startle me.

NB: N900, CSSU-T, no post processing (although I fear that much is obvious...)
