Maybe because it is not 800x400?

It's much bigger but when you press set as wallpaper it shows a frame with a corner to cut the wallpaper to 854x480 , so the photo is cropped and stored somewhere , but I don't know where .

I tried to replace the file from there but the wallpaper has same quality .

It seems that the lockscreen is actually like a screenshot because if I try to unlock the wallpaper goes back to normal quality .

Here's a video about what I'm talking about . : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIjQHyKhz3U

Why phone manufacturers limit even wallpapers ? I understood they limit ringtones so people will not damage the speaker if they set a louder ringtone , but wallpaper ... wtf ?

just a thought... Isn't that meant to be a feature and not a bug?
IIRC that is actually a transitions effect which brightens up the wallpaper while swiping it away.

It looks like a feature , but an unwanted feature because if I set my favourite photo as wallpaper I wanna see it's normal colors , I don't care if while swiping turns to normal quality , swiping action duration is a half of second or even less .
