Hey all.

Since last night, YouTube is just blank for me now.

It plays music just fine but there's no happy fun screen weirdness that I can watch anymore.

Um, let's see, I'm running Windows XP Service Pack 3, 35 gigs in free space, 1 gig in RAM, on a super old Emachine piece of turd from Walmart.

I've rebooted, kicked my screen, and stopped downloading porn.

Nothing is working.

Here is my task manager thingy.

I'll completely reformat my computer either Saturday or Sunday if no one can help me problem solve for this.

Thanks boys!

Download the latest version of Flashplayer from Adobe, reboot and try again. Let me know what happens.

It may also be incompatible browser add-ons. Try it with Internet Explorer rather than firefox - or Chrome.

Okay Switch.

I downloaded the latest version of Flashplayer and then rebooted.

I'm still seeing the same black screen of unhappiness while playing anything on YouTube.

It will show me the play and pause button in the middle of the video, but I'm just not seeing any screen joy of love still.

Any other possible suggestions?

Sorry Switch, I missed your other suggestion about trying Internet Explorer.

Yeah, you were right, that works like a peach.

Too bad I find Internet Explorer to be a fluffy, cornball, wretched piece of turd.

Oh. Hey. Sorry for that intense visual. *lol*

Perhaps its related with hardware acceleration. Try turning hardware acceleration off.(Though mostly you will get a green screen on youtube and music will play)

Disable all browser add-ons or try running it in another explorer program - what happens in Internet Explorer when you try running the 'tube?

/EDIT

OK - saw your other post. It's not Hardware acceleration (although I know where you were going with that one Maharadja), it's most likely due to some settings within Firefox going screwy over time. Internet cache is a funny thing, has a habit of going tits up when you least expect it. If there is a "reset original settings" option anywhere within that cornball, flufffy, wretched piece of turd Firefox ( haha) you might want to try giving that a go.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by browser add-ons there Switch.

This is what I have that I think you're asking about.

Internet Explorer and YouTube are getting along famously together. It almost makes me not want to spit so much at Microsoft. *lol*

And at Maharadja, I have no idea what in the God wonderful world you're talking about with hardware accelerations.

I'm a newb stupid.

I meant that if hardware acceleration is buggy on your videocard; youtube , and other videosites that use flash, won't play their videos.
*HOW TO SOLVE*
right click on youtube player -> settings(a screen wil come in the youtube player)
then uncheck hardware acceleration and restart browser.
If it doesn't solve is, turn it back on.

Hope that helps, though its odd that IE is working...

Extensions, add-ons and plug-ins are all browser related additional extensions that *could* compromise your Tube viewing pleasure.

My advice would be to download IE8 from Micro$haft directly and use that as your main browser. I've been using IE in various iterations for years and years now and see no reason to go to another vendor for any reason. IE9 (only available if you have W7) uses a completely different ruleset for hardware and graphics acceleration and is so damn good it's almost unreal.

Try turning off Ad Block Plus. That is known to cause exactly this and Youtube have advised this too.
