Code:
~ $ ls -l /opt/lightmeter/
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 561 Jun 24 19:23 camera.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 228 Jun 24 19:23 lens.conf
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 68072 Jun 24 19:23 lightmeter
Follow the examples in these files to add new sections.
If you still have problems send me your camera model, your lens(es) model, and three lists:
  • all supported speed settings
  • all supported iso values
  • all supported aperture values

I found a bug in the memory buttons function, I'll fix it in the next release.
I need help to add more camera/lens settings, an icon, and some description/help docs (english isn't my first language), before submit the app to extras-testing. I'll submit it to extras-devel with the fix and other less important things ASAP.
Thanks!

Sorry, I'm not english mother tongue, so It's difficult for me to explain things.

Send me a private message with these information:
  • camera model
  • lens model
  • a list of supported iso values (for example, for D80: 100,125,160,200,250,320,400,500,640,800,1000,1250, 1600)
  • supported speed values (for example for D80 with 0.5EV steps: 1/4000,1/3000,1/2000,1/1500,1/1000,1/750,1/500,1/350,1/250,1/180,1/125,1/90,1/60,1/45,1/30,1/20,1/15,1/10,1/8,1/6,1/4,1/3,1/2,1/1.5,1,1.5,2,3,4,6,8,10,15,20,30)
  • a list of supported aperture values (for example, for Nikkor 16-85 with 0.5EV steps: 3.5,4,4.8,5.6,6.7,8,9.5,11,13,16,19,22,27,32,38)

I'll put these values in the conf files and in the next release you'll be able to select you camera/lens in the settings menu.
Bye!

No problem at all. The most people here are no native english speakers.

It's only important to know what the other is speaking about. We are a international community.

I like your Project. Here are my camera data:
  • camera model: Fuji FinePix S100FS
  • lens model: 28-400mm 14.3x (hard mounted)
  • supported iso values:
    100,200,400,800,1000,1600,3200 (6400,10000)
  • supported speed values: 1/4000,1/3000,1/2500,1/2000,1/1600,1/1200,1/1000,1/800,1/640,1/500, 1/400,1/320,1/250,1/200,1/160,1/125,1/100,1/80,1/60,1/50,1/40,1/30,1/25,1/20, 1/15,1/13,1/10,1/8,1/6,1/5,1/4,1/3,1/2.5,1/2,1/1.6,1/1.3,1,1.3,1.5,2,2.5,3,4,5,6.5,8,10,13,15,20,25,30
  • supported aperture values: 3.1,3.6,4,4.5,5,5.6,6.4,7.1,8,9,10,11

I hope you will collect many more camera parameters for your project. Keep on the good work!

a) do you collect data, should I just post mine, or do you only add as request?

b) I saw people here that have a SLR and need exposure settings. But D80 and S100FS are both digital, what exactly do you use the meter for? Devices already meter for themselves, and you can correct via exposure (if not manually)?

You can send me a private message or post here, it's the same. I'll put the data in the configuration files and update the package in my spare time.

With a light meter you can measure the incident light, see here for more info. Real light meters are better than this app, but are expensive...

New version is in extras-devel now, thanks for the support. You can download the deb without activate the devel repo, if you have PR1.2 you don't need other packages.
@das_schlumpfie: your data is in package!
@helex: you have to wait a bit or you can add data by yourself, it's easy!
Bye!

Minus the plastic dome and calibration

Touching the LCD-style numbers you can set the exposure parameters. If you set the aperture value, speed will be calculated, and vice versa. The LCD-style numbers give you only values permitted by your camera/lens. You can easily add your camera/lens parameters in the files camera.conf and lens.conf in /opt/lightmeter, then you can select them using the settings menu option.
In the package you'll find only the Nikon D80 and a 16-85 Nikkor lens in the .conf files.
To store the actual exposure you can use the three "memory" buttons.
I tested it briefly, it works for me, but consider it as stable as extras-devel apps.
I'll wait for you feedback.
Cheers,
Marcello
I have not yet understood how it works. I give the parameters for the exposure and glare values and it calculates the speed of it to me?
I am not a photographer, and may begin with exposure to date only limited etws. What's the benefit for myself as a user what calculated it to me?
