As you may already know, Google today announced a new runtime environment called ART to improve performance. Would this cause serious problem for Alien Dalvik on Jolla devices?

not at all, because this wont take over for a long time, and when it does i expect jolla to have it taken care of. It will also help our Jolla in terms of performance if anything.

ART could simply be ported to Jolla's Android layer, it's just a runtime and IIRC no APIs target it specifically.

We won't need alien Dalvik anymore: maybe the art emulator will be open source?
Wouldn't that be awesome?

Switching to ART will have no effect on Alien Dalvik on Jolla, apps are still made and put on the app store as apks as per usual, art only effects the device running the app, as the device compiles it.

There's so many devices out there that will not run ART. For example, the original Nexus 7 which is still getting the latest OS updates but won't get ART.

I'm more concerned about the new Android wearable line. I would love to buy the moto 360 watch, however the Jolla is most likely not compatible with it at all. (requires Android 4.3 and Bluetooth 4.0 LE)
