As expected nokia store would be closed by the first quarter of 2015 and existing devices would be redirected to opera mobile store through a deal with opera for future support .

but there is no mention of nokia n9 and n900 as always !
so what are the implication of this on n9xx ecosystem beyond loosing the store apps ?

btw everyone is adviced to backup all required apps piror axing

long live neo900 !
without any corporate mess

To backup your apps use the below script provided by wicket
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...8&postcount=17

archieve.org backup

I installed Panorama from there. Long since removed, but I do have a backup if you ask nicely

The only thing I am a bit concerned about is the maps. That's why I am downloading all of them now, while I can.

Anyone know how to backup any that use .install files rather than debs? I went through ages ago getting what I could but couldn't get angry birds, the original. I have all level packs as debs.

Edit: scrub that, found I backup I must of done at some stage.

Angrybirds+packs1-4
njurassic 1.0.1
panorama 2.0.5
quickpanorama-pro 1.0.1
zenbound 1.0.6-1

Used info from here http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...3&postcount=34, run apt-get -o dir::cache=/home/user/bla -d install appname. The folder bla in this example must also contain a folder structure of archives/partial/

Answer yes (although it says install, it won't) and deb will be saved in bla/archives.

I never used maps app. as no maps are available for my country. thats why i prefer Modrana over default app application. yes creating a backup for everything would be nice. and im asking nicely which panorama app you are talking about ?

Best thing to do is n9qtweaks 'save debs' always ON, and backup partitions using ubiboot - i have tens of those snapshots/backups to revert to, no flashing necessary.

Though, maybe this MS decision kills nokia maps and drive apps, they needed an active nokia account to function as i remember.(?)

I thought that .install files were just links to the actual .deb files. But I cannot claim to be an expert by any stretch of imagination.
