15.000 EUR, but we don't know yet if it's real and not some mistake/fraud/trolling

Let's wait and see :P

It's actually cheaper to buy more and throw away. My teachers were right: capitalism is rotten to the bone! (Yes, I grew up in the workers' paradise behind the iron courtain )

Are you telling us that you want to cut'n'solder 272+ connectors by hand? Wow!
even more amazing:
597pcs * 6.50EUR = 3880EUR

Sorry I didn't mention that the above quotes all are made up at least partially. For obvious reasons we don't want to disclose full details of offers sent to us. ;-D

and yes, worst case we would cut and mill to fit 600 (not 300) connectors to give us 900 pieces to build 300 64pin from. Of course with proper electric tools ;-)

Something interesting, maybe not for the neo900, but could be considered for the next unit (neo900 2?), if it will ever exist:

BTW: maybe you could email them (http://hak5.org/) as they seem interested in anything open source and maybe they could talk about the neo900 in one of their shows and draw in more donations.

Obviously there's a considerable demand for a HDTV / digital video output.
I want to enumerate the alternatives/options here and solicit a discussion about them. Particularly feedback about reference implementations, chipset availability, availability of full datasheets/TRM, royalties/NDAs involved, availability of drivers for linux(!), etc, is highly appreciated

Please the more tech-savvy of our supporters evaluate, while the mere users may contribute general usability considerations and acceptance factor estimations, as well as the very important answer to the obvious question: how much are you all willing to pay for that, per device? Since again obvously such a feature doesn't come for free, it needs R&D and it needs components.

Thanks and best regards
jOERG

[*]SlimPort/MyDP/DisplayPort
I registered here just to express my interest in this project and, specifically, in the topic of video output. After brief review, SlimPort sounds like the perfect solution to this issue, and it is my hope that you're willing and able to implement it in the final product. My interest in this project hinges on the type of video output made available by SlimPort because such a feature changes the potential use cases of the device entirely. As a software developer, I believe that the Neo900 has the potential to become a "phone" and laptop replacement--and maybe even a simple office machine replacement, along with a slew of other things--so long as it has adequate inputs and outputs. Without something like SlimPort, the Neo900 would only offer me marginal benefits over an N900--but with SlimPort, the potential for the Neo900 would be massive. Concerning additional costs, I'm willing to pay significantly more for such a device with this sort of video output available.

I'm looking forward to future developments.

+1 to what crustacean says.

Also, SlimPort is royalty free and the drivers should be FOSS as it is used in a couple of Android devices, for example:

https://github.com/AndrewDB/rk3066-k.../chips/anx7805

SlimPort also supports sound output.

EDIT:
joerg_rw was faster than me with the above link
