Oh, the irony...the mail client is called modest and it only lets you attach small files to emails, so it has a modest file size limit. Sorry, it's been a long cold day!

After attaching 3 pictures of about 850 - 900k each and 2 videos, one of 6.3M and the other of 7.3M, I tried to send my message, only to receive an error saying 'file too large to be attached'. I can't see any option in the settings that would allow an attachment size limit to be set. Would I be right in assuming that this is built in to modest and can't be changed?

Yes, see bug 6465 (WONTFIX unfortunately).
