If you have widgets gallery installed, uninstall it and try again.

It's a name for Maemo 6 demo (or something like that) which is known to cause this kind of issue. If you don't have that installed then it's something else that's causing the issue (broken theme maybe). Uninstall all 3rd party themes and then see if it helps. If not, then give me output of this command @ xterm:
ls -l /usr/share/themes/

You typoed the command. Notice there's lowercase L-letter and space after and before "-l" switch. You can copy and paste from xterm by choosing the arrow tool, then paint the text and select copy option from top menu.

Whoa! Few themes you have there... did you already uninstall all 3rd party themes before running the command?

Well for starters I would remove folders "meego", "base" and "redmond". You need to have rootsh installed from extras, then type these commands into xterm:
sudo gainroot
cd /usr/share/themes
rm -rf meego
rm -rf redmond
rm -rf base

Remeber to press "enter" after each line. If this doesn't help, then continue reading.

You seem to have there also a bunch of themes which aren't even in maemo -repos or they are from devel. I really suggest to uninstall everything and start from clean table (or reflash to wipe the whole device clean).

By default you should only have following folders under /usr/share/themes/ (in other words, do NOT delete these folders manually):
alpha
beta
Default
Emacs
Raleigh
default
