I have been playing around with pygtk on my N900, and have managed to come up with something resembling an app to show live departure boards for train stations in Perth, Australia.
I named the app after Maemo 5's codename, and the city of Fremantle is also the destination of one of the main train lines here in Perth.
The audience for this app will be very limited due to:
N900 not available for general sale in Australia.
Only relevant for residents of Perth.
Only relevant for people who catch trains (no bus information yet).
It is quite useful for me, as I get the train pretty much every day.
If there is much interest from anyone else in Perth, I might attempt at further refining the app, and packaging it - let me know if you are keen.
