this sounds like a great idea, the feeds are already there to support it, a bit like a fancy, dedicated rs reader.

I believe the RSS feed can display the topic and the first topic. Not certain about the private messages, not likely.
I'm from Sweden, I have an idea.
I sketched a design, but that is for the Swedish Maemo site "Meegosweden.se".That was too hard for use Swedes too coding
I want one too Maemo.org. It should work as Facebook widget.
Here is my fast design :P
