Hi,

Is anyone up to compiling the old VMS game 'Empire' for Maemo/N900? Source code should be here:

http://catb.org/~esr/vms-empire/

Thanks

I don't know if it is playable, I just launched it but here's VMS Empire.
Just unzip and copy the vms-empire binary where you want (/home/user), give execute permission:
Code:
chmod +x path_to_vms-empire
and execute it
Code:
path_to_vms-empire
Attached Files
File Type: zip vms-empire.zip (42.3 KB, 106 views)

Hi and thanks!

However... i don't seem to be able to launch it... I've changed owner to user and mode to executable but it says it can't find it...

~/bin/vms-empire $ ls -l
-rwxr-xr-x 1 user users 96973 Jul 5 09:15 vms-empire
~/bin/vms-empire $ vms-empire
-sh: vms-empire: not found
~/bin/vms-empire $

To execute it from the current directory:
Code:
./vms-empire

Ouch... That's embarassing... I knew my unix skills were rusty, but not to that extent...

Good news is that it works pretty well!

There are a few things I still haven't figured out like how to change what a city will produce... Hopefully all commands are possible with the keyboard of the N900.

This is the manual.

If I find out more I'll update here.
