If you care to see this technology continue, get involved in council election.

There are people who will be content to see it dropped and move on to greener pastures.

Does any of the current candidates hold such a view?

I doesn't seem so.
Edit: I mean, it doesn't seem that any of them cares about os2008.

Some do seem to care to various extents according to the Q&A.

Having said that, does the council have the power to do much about it? IMHO having someone like Stskeeps on the "inside" is much more promising than any particular council's composition.

I didn't read the Q&A, only the wiki page, but quickly reading it seems to confirm they (all of them) are more worried about the fate of the n900 and only marginally care about our older devices.
I agree that Stskeeps efforts will be more useful, but I think he's spread too thin.

The Community SSU was established to provide updates and there were already few -- Diablo lives in the community. The web address is http://repository.maemo.org/community for components free and non-free. Some useful applications like Dialcentral are continuing support for Diablo tablets through the existing repositories.

I don't understand what are you answering to :-?
I think everyone in this thread knows that, we are talking about the council candidates views on such matters.

Stskeeps has now moved on to meego.com. I would love to be wrong, but because of his other responsibilities now I think adapting MeeGo to N8x0 won't be completed if it depends on him (not that it necessarily should depend on him anymore any ways).

Some running for council care and some don't care about our concerns (ex. closing MeeGo N8x0 adaptation thread); but for most it's more a matter of competing priorities.
