I don't necessarily agree but there are quite a few languages that are made up probably just for NIH reasons...

I haven't used it myself, but I understand Rust can make much better guarantees about memory safety and thread safety than C.

The same can be said about pretty much any language. That does not make them better than C. I would argue it makes it worse because it encourages sloppy programming by allowing the programmers to forget about details.

Talking of languages... My other half's colleague was learning English as a foreign language. He said, "It is an easy language to learn. It looks like C."

Regarding to Spotify issue, not sure if this is related or not. But the playlists are gone from n900 QSpot also. Everything else still works like before.

If I understand correctly, that still does not allow playing on a Sailfish device, correct?

Correct. It also seems that, in its current state, it doesn't work as a controller either.

You will need a spotify player on your phone to control. For example librespot.
