Well that is the usual problem with stock option plans, especially for top management. The comparation points should be set on targets that realistically show the value of the decisions that the management has made but often the measurements are askew of can be influenced by said parties

Yeah nothing really earth shattering as its normal business practice as always. Does it make it right, no, not at all.
Especially thinking the quite of a unique situation. At least MS pays 70% of it.

Not really. Golden parachute would require him losing his job. He did not, still in charge of Nokia/MS mobile phones unit + now the top contender for the MS big cheese spot after Ballmer retires.

And BBC misses that other 38 million euros he got in salary from his 2 years in destroying Nokia. Falling updwards, ie. the usual. capitalism bullshitbingo. Maybe he'll go into investment banking next. Its the only way for left for him to become less of a respectful human beign.

Indeed.

HS, Finland's largest newspaper also reminds that its up for the board to hand out the golden handshake and decide the amount of it.

It has been speculated that Nokia in reality has been in a critical stage financially wise with hidden costs crushing them soon.
There have been countless of similar opinions from analysts and the smart money seemed to agree for past 1-2 years with 12% of all of Nokia's stock being shorted by large organizations. Hedge funds around the globe are taking over 740 million euros hit because of Nokia's stock skyrocketing to around 5 euros after betting it to crash.

HS argues that the board actually saw Nokia getting best possible deal from a heavy part of a company that was already bankruptcy ready. Why its rewarding Elop.

HS can't simply see any other reason for the over triple of a golden parachute OPK got.

I can certainly see the point, though I do wonder if jumping Android back in 2011 would have made the difference. Can Elop be rewarded for the WP decision? HS seems to argue that the company was in a much worse situation than it was thought already when Elop joined.
If Nokia was in that bad situation, was the plan indeed to sell Nokia right from the start to MS when Elop joined? Not just a secret and evil plan by Elop, but a joint decision inside the company when they took Elop.
