A bit of a hacky way to do it, but if you go into the terminal and type
Code:
gconftool-2 -s /apps/modest/update_interval --type=int 2
where 2 is the number of minutes.
I'm not sure how persistent it is if you reboot, and the value that appears in Modest seems to stay at 5 minutes despite the change, but it does seem to work.

Another piece of failed UI/UX design from Nokia. What is wrong with an input box where you can enter exactly the interval you require?

Don't need push email, just need IMAP idle. Nokia have implemented on the Symbian mail client, but I'm pretty sure it's not in modest.

I personally wouldn't trust Nokia (or any other 3rd party) with the details of my email accounts.
