Lately I have been changing lots of icons "on the fly" to enhance the skin currently in use.
I noticed, however, that only some icons seem to get refreshed when I issue an "update-desktop-database" from the command line (for the purpose of which I actually made a desktop entry).
As I was looking for a suitable image, I had a couple of terminals open to get downloaded icon files in the right folder, some icons simply refused to show up and the desktop entry would only give me the generic application icon, than all of a sudden it would work with some icons.
But when I do an actual reboot, all of the tested icons turn out to actually work.
So my question is, is there a possible rationale as to why some icons would get refreshed on the fly with "update-desktop-database" and others donīt? How can I determine which ones will and which ones wonīt update? Could it be the tracker?
