...did some one manage to get this combi running? On my device the fCamera screen remains just grey - Quit doesn't close the app but I have to kill the process.
Does the "exiting news" app run with the default kernel at least?

It appears that you're not the only one using Titan's Kernel who is having problems with FCamera:

http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=257

I am also using Titan's Kernel - I briefly attempted to use FCamera, and it did not work (the application started, but there appeared to be a blank, grey rectangle in the area that may be intended as a viewfinder). Running the application from the command line yielded the following errors within the console output:

FCam Error: V4L2Sensor: Error opening /dev/video0: No such file or directory
FCam Error: VIDIOC_S_CTRL: 10096816 = 0, 9
FCam Error: V4L2Sensor: Error opening /dev/video0: No such file or directory
FCam Error: VIDIOC_S_CTRL: 10096815 = 50, 9
FCam Error: V4L2Sensor: Error opening /dev/video0: No such file or directory
FCam Error: VIDIOC_G_CTRL: 10094858, 9
FCam Error: V4L2Sensor: Error opening /dev/video0: No such file or directory
FCam Error: VIDIOC_S_CTRL: 10094858 = 227, 9
FCam Error: Error opening /dev/video0: 2

Also, dpkg reports that the fcam-drivers package is installed...

I am not 100% sure that we have get rid of all closed drivers of the camAPI but atleast this seems to be the case and it VERY good news :-)

cut from Fcam README file:

"CAM-DRIVERS

Description
-------------

FCam-drivers is a set of replacement kernel modules for the Nokia N900
camera subsystem, meant to be used in conjunction with the FCam
userspace camera API. These are all slightly modified from the
original code that is included in the kernel tree for the Nokia N900.
"

So probadly ftrhats why it doesnt work on custom kernels but iot probady will in the near future :-)

Open Soutrce RULES :-D

After un-uninstalling the fcam driver and all related apps, my phone would not boot up (stuck into a loop), and flashing as you suggested did not do it either so i had to re-flash PR 1.2 again and I'm just installing all my apps again.

Maybe un-installing fcam stuff is not a good idea.. until there is a proper fix.

good luck everyone!

This happen to me yesterday, was a bummer but now have a fresh install of all my apps. and have backed up with bootmenu backup/restore script.

would really like this to be compatible with Titans kernel. or maybe be part of it.
