Hello,

I'm a complete maemo dummie.... I tried to install maemo mapper 2.6.2 on my nokia N800 but it says the software is incompatible.... I have already read some comments on this subject on the forum, but I have to admit I don't really understand what the problem is or how to solve it.....can anyone help me with this?

thx!

Post your problem again but with more details. Exactly what is the message you get? Is there a Details tab on the message? It says ... ?

N800 can run Maemo Mapper.

Try enabling the extras repository in the applications manager (tools->repositories, select maemo extra, push edit and remove the disabled checkbox) and try installing it from there.

Thanks for the replies, but the only message I get is: Cannot install maemo mapper. Application not compatible.
I have OS2008 I believe, but it should work, no?

first: where are you installing from?

and after that as much details as possible. now your description is something like:
"I a hammer, is it bad?"

I downloaded maemo mapper from this website on my pc, then attached my n800 to my pc, put the install file of maemo mapper on the memory card and from there on the N800 I clicked to open it...and then it said Cannot install maemo mapper. Application not compatible.
That's all I can tell you really...

Why don't you just open the "application manager" and then "browse installable applications".? Why do you download an install file to a desktop computer? Do you not have internet access?

Well, do you have a card installed there?

Internet access is not exactly WiFi access.
File transfer via usb cable is what I did many times, not living in WiFi area.

Nokia Internet Tablet is exactly lost when no WiFi access is provided.
USB cable file transfer is not supported,
as there is no way to select compatible version of application.
