It is common practice to select something as best for the next year at the end of the current year. Especially in auto industry.

12 hours baterry? where all i am getting is 7-8 hrs without MfE or any widget

I dunno, it seems to me you lose most of the strong points of N900 in the wilderness outside of 3G/WIFI networks.

Nokia says it's rough and dangerous.... That's why NG put it on the list.

just a solar usb charger and you can come a long way!

I do get more then 8 hours by the way syncing with Goolge Cal twice a day and checking emails every 30 min all day long

Interesting choice. If it's just best gadget they can think off, no problems. But i wouldn't call N900 rugged hike material
Successor of 5140, 3720 Classic fits the bill more if looking at Nokias direction.
