Microsoft to buy Skype, does that mean the end of non-M1cr0$0f7 clients?

Agree ! and also knowing Microsoft products, soon skype too would start hanging and we would have to start rebooting/restarting the app to keep it working !

Rebooting because of hang?
Many times on WinOSes, even on that Windows 7 crap.
Either the OS hangs or the application hangs and killing
the application also kills the OS. :-(

Never had a OS hang on N900.
On Linux only in the ancient Linux times (kernel panic).

Back to the topic: so Skype will be dead quite soon too.
Are there any free alternatives?

$8.5 billion for Skype?
Really?

Those swedish founders of Skype have now sold the company twice and made hefty profit both times. Kudos to them.

Some comment I got in Facebook from my friend who got them from Tweeter:

RT @Sandydca: At least all the tech-support calls to Bangalore will be at a reduced rate.

RT @cjkm: Skype Condescending Starter Edition; Skype Unpaid Blogger Edition; Skype Cubicle Jail Edition; Skype Telco Replacement Edition...

RT @CheckwDavid: Now Microsoft can have Windows call customer support on its own!

RT @loyalmoses: We'll have to start saying "Microsoft me" instead of "Skype me"... but saying that makes me feel dirty.

RT @xriva: Microsoft Skype: The Blue Screen of Voice.

RT @bryanroutledge: To dial, use ctrl-alt-del...

RT @Pouge "Microsoft buying Skype" tweet: "Does that mean it's going to stop working properly?"

They didn't.

@PMaff

I think your installation may be slightly broken. If you wait a while, you can probably call Microsoft Support on Skype for a low rate.
