3. When you are planning to release the next version ?
The freedoom wad works fine. Any doom-compatible replacement wads should work. PWADs i believe are supported but you may have to change some configuration. Check out the resources for prboom on the Web for more details.

I'm not really planning on spending more time on this one unless something breaks: there are other aspects of Maemo software that don't yet meet my needs that i am spending time on.

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

Thanks for answers.Just some suggestions (which you already have in community TODO) if you can make fullscreen possible (no black borders and no stretched game) and I cant type numbers in menu settings. If you can just fix these 2 things, port will be for me 100 percent great.

The numbers issue is one i don't know how to fix without big changes. For fullscreen, you can edit the prboom configuration file manually:
  • Install leafpad using app manager
  • From xterminal:
    leafpad .prboom/prboom.cfg
  • Under "Video Settings" section:
    • Enable fullscreen by changing 0 in "use_fullscreen 0" to "1"
    • Change "screen_height from 400 to 480
  • Save the file

Alternatively, you can start prboom in fullscreen from xterm:
/opt/prboom/prboom -fullscreen -width 800 -height 480

Do you know any doom stand-alone modifications that are playable on n900? I found just wads that need doom2 to work.
And I tried editing with Doom builder 2, I copied and pasted map from another wad too doom2.wad and it crashes on start, so it seems that custom levels doesnt work. (that wad was just some edited levels from doom2.wad, so no custom textures or scripts, just new level)

Hey guys!

I am trying to follow instructions to switch wads, but I have an immediate stopper - in terminal prboom command is not found. Even if I go to /opt/prboom and do ls - prboom is there, but if I type prboom, it says

-sh: prboom: not found.

What am I doing wrong?

if you want to run prboom from the command line, you either have to enter:

/opt/prboom/prboom

or cd to /opt/prboom and run ./prboom

Tried loading a PWAD like that:

/opt/prboom/prboom -file /opt/doom/wads/base.wad

The games starts, but plays normal levels instead.
Looked on the web, but found nothing useful. Did anyone manage to load custom WADs?

EDIT: Solution found. I had doom1 IWAD, so it could not load a custom Doom 2 wad. When I switched to Doom 2 IWAD, the above method WORKED.
