If device has chinese CMT, then there is no way to flash it to global/european CMT. Sorry, you can only flash 003 version to the device.

This has been explained many times in flashing threads, short summar "once you go to chinese CMT, you cannot ever switch to anything else, even if it would not be downgrading". Which means that your device is a brick -> wlan only device forever.

hmm.then wiki needs an.update, since.it tells people you can.go.from .003 to .009 variant of same pr version. But not.from .009 to .003.variant of same pr version - which actually.makes sense considering 9 is higher than 3.

Ah yes, thats an error in wiki, you can go from
001 -> 009
005 -> 009
006 -> 009
in the same PR. But 003 CMT has a special lock/signature, so you cannot go from 003 -> 009.

Most of the times you want to stay on global vanilla 001 though.

Summary answer is that if you ever flash 003 then your screwed. (if you are not from china)

Advanced version of teaser answer is:
With special hack exploit you can even go from 009 -> 001, 006 -> 001, 005 -> 001, but again that hack does NOT allow 003 -> 001 or 003->005 or 003->009.
