Bought a new car. Well, a used one. Has no great connectivity options for the stereo, and so needs an upgrade. Getting something that supports the N9 seams to be a pipedream, altho bluetooth support for A2DP and AVRCP should make it so you can skip track back and fourth, and stream the audio. But, Bluetooth eats battery power, and it's common to get interference when you hook a phone to the car for charging while also streaming of it. So, i thought i'd check the "next" option. Just in case it's actually supported.

So... Is it? Can the Nokia N9 stream audio over the USB? "Most" Androids with OS 4.1 or newer can, which people gleefully pointed out to me when the topic got brought up... I tried telling them it means jack all to me, since i like my phone, but they wont relent. So, does anyone here know?

Sure it does! Unlike Jolla, which won't work in most car stereos for exactly that reason.

"USB Audio Streaming" relies on the phone using the USB as an audio output for players running on the phone, not letting the phone act as storage media for the stereo.

Yes, we know. But sometimes it is better to answer the problem you are trying to solve than the question you are asking.

How about A2DP protokoll bluetooth streaming to your Cars radio/headunit?
I advise to invest into a Alpine Headunit, e.g. CDE-133 BT.
Never had audio trouble with any phone combined with alpine units.

The OP said in the first post that he did not want to use BT due to a battery drain and interference.
I personally have never experienced any interference and the battery drain can be solved with the same cable you meant to use anyway, only use it for power, not data.
