Reinob,

I had read some days ago on inet about some users had the same problem using Opera on Android and one of the guys sent a mail to "Opera" technician support and they answered it happens, cuz there's low memory on device, so i thought... although I've enough memory on swap, i could customize app cache to try do it manage correctly the memory resources, so i researched about the way to customize it, anyway, in short, I solved my problem after customize it. Idk if it was a coincidence, but indeed this worked to me.

I saw some guys running Opera in background, but I prefered just tune it.

Well, I think you've 2 options. What have you done to solve this problem already?

P.S. Sorry, my bad English...

seanmcken,

Could you run Opera and type the command "bg" on terminal to make sure if it's working in background?

@leandrolrs,

I just wanted to know how you came to that conclusion. When a tested opera 12 it crashed while merely using 60MB (VM size) and I still had plenty of RAM, real and virtual.

It may still be that opera has a memory management problem and if you reduce the cache the crash doesn't happen (even though it might not be the direct cause of the crash).

It's worth a try anyway (just like @seanmcken's suggestion to put a clearly incorrect command in the Exec line..)

@reino

I think you realized command in the exec won't run Opera in background, even if set & after the string, so for those that prefer to run it in background, they need to find another way to run it, cuz type opera & on terminal is a boring way to do it...

I really think developers will fix it soon.

This thread should be removed as there's no solutions for the fix here.
The developer from opera labs knows about it and is looking into it.
His thread is here: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=52373

EDIT: just did it on mine, and it works!

Necroposting FTW

Looks like something's gone mammaries skyward again here.

Anyone else having issues with text input on some sites? It's at it's worst when posting comments on Facebook.
The text formatting has gone round the tank (no auto return to form a next line), so a whole sentence will be typed in one long line (pressing Return either onscreen or on the physical keyboard will submit the comment). Opera virtual keyboard changes from having a "Return" key to a "Go" key sometimes and sometimes you need to quit Opera and restart so you can actually submit a comment.

Not sure who's to blame for this one, Opera or Facebook but I've filed bug reports for both. I'd put my money on it being Facebook TBH.
