It's been out now for 2 days, funny that I didn't see any topic over here indeed

team fail0verflow said to sony that they made an "epic fail".

Funny thing: PS3 is now even "more" hacked then the Nintendo Wii is :P

Yes, and that may be what led to the PS3 being so thoroughly hacked.

It's gonna take some time to get the game loader hacked, then you could run unsigned games/copied games (ie piracy).

But for now, this will help with:
+Getting new codes written into the PS3's OS (new features, eg divx plugin)
+Getting homebrew
+Getting Other OS available again
+Having a more "completed" OS installed (Yellow Dog was very limited, think how cool it might be with MeeGo installed)
+Returning the backwards compatibility (which means PS1 and PS2 games).
+Having these features available also with Sony's new features (PSN, 3D videos, 3D games etc)

Fun times ahead, the only regret is that this couldn't have been done sooner (like as soon as the PS3 Slims were out).

they can still change that key or just start using the encryption core to its full potention.

They can't change it on the PS3's already sold ... which is a lot.

The way that Sony tries to secure its devices is to provide a really tough bootloader, then patch up any loopholes when they become apparent. But when all else fails, they start selling the next versions with different, tough bootloaders.

You can best observe this with the PSP's.
It got hacked, Sony released firmware patches. And again, and again.
The bootloader was busted, Sony introduced a new model (2000).
Same thing happened, Sony introduced new model (late 2000's).
And Sony released the PSP 3000 model.
The PSP Go was released, and was hacked multiple times (never the bootloader).

You can also see a similar thing with the Xperia phones.

What do these pattern's mean?
That very very likely, the hack will eventually evolve to take advantage of the PS3's hardware and Sony cannot do anything about it except sell a new PS3 variant, with a different bootloader.
Which is good news, because you don't need a new model and if you were to try to buy the older (current) models you could do so due to their abundance ... everyone wins, except Sony.

Is just impossible... Sony wont let any hacker to hack on a PS3. Hack it and in less than a month Sony will make an awesome update with epic features to cover the real thing.
