I am in the situation that I cannot update, upgrade or reinstall software on my N900 anymore. I am in a loop. Maybe one of you can help me out (do hope so ;-)

I get errors in both Faster Application Manager and in X-Terminal.

Faster Application Manager tells me to try to solve the problem by running [apt-get install -f] in X-Terminal.

I then get an error message like this (in X-Terminal) :

" Nokia-N900:~# apt-get install -f

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Correcting dependencies... Done

The following extra packages will be installed:
libsdl-ttf2.0
The following NEW packages will be installed:

I found out on https://bugs.maemo.org/ that this is an known issue.

Comment #13 from Javier S. Pedro 2010-07-16 15:58:11 GMT+3 [reply]

The SDK binary package is named "libsdl-ttf2.0" while the previously existing, and Debian ones are named "libsdl-ttf2.0-0", and of course they conflict . "

But this info here does not help me any further how to solve my problem.

How do I get rid of the conflicting package(s) ?

Should I clean out the [var/cache/..] ?

Anybody?

Thanks in advance for any help !!

PS

The text above concerning " unpacking ... from " I copied from the web.

The names of my files are

- libsdl-ttf2.0-0_2.0.9-lmaemo2_armel.deb
- libSDL_ttf-2.0.so.0.6.3

Problem is the same ;-)

what if you try to
# apt-get purge libsdl-ttf2.0 libsdl-ttf2.0-0
?
(I assume that you're aware of possibility that such command can delete some important packages)

No 'Flobby' installed here ...

And even if I would install it - just to force some 'binding' of libsdl-ttf2.0 with Flobby - no luck !!

Since I * cannot * install, upgrade or remove * any * software anymore ....

Tried that, but X-Terminal keeps complaining about 'unmet dependencies' for 3 installed packages:

- enigma
- python-pygame
- vultures

(for both 2 different ttf2.0 packages)

Nope - X-Terminal even states that libsdl-ttf2.0-0 is not installed.

For the rest the same :

dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/ ...

Deinstall Vultures and enigma... and then python-pygame
This lib seems to be used only by python-pygame ..
And pygame is used only from those games you have installed... so, if you don't wnat this problem ultil someone solve it in the repo ... deistall XD

Concerning these 75 packages not fully installed or configured, maybe this is the culprit: my N900 yesterday went into a reboot-loop.

All I could do was to reflash it.

So I had to reinstall most of the software.

Somewhere during updating it seemed as if the N900 'stalled'.

So I pressed the shutdown button.

Could this explain these 75 packages not installed or configured?

I do not know where to start to clean up the system and reinstall everything again.

I anybody has a tip where to go from here, I would be so happy ...
