Posting this on behalf of Dakon.

----------

I've tried posting this to the forum, but the post doesn't show up there.
Well, forums are so 90ies, so another try here.

Application submission: OSM2go updates
Project Name: OSM2go
Author: Dakon aka. DerDakon (Rolf Eike Beer)
Category: Fixing/Updating

Brief description: OSM2go has been improved lately. It now uses C++ for many
things, which results in reduced memory usage (std::vector and friends instead
of handcoded single-linked lists). It gained some new features (e.g. nested
presets, so a newer set of JOSM presets can be used), a couple of memory leaks
were fixed. Based on the C++ port a Qt5 based GUI will eventually come,
hopefully bringing OSM2go to Jolla.

Features/work to be judged:
- speed and memory improvements (e.g.
https://github.com/osm2go/osm2go/com...8bbf2dc273f793
https://github.com/osm2go/osm2go/com...de8895b0b6e9db
)
- new presets features (list of presets used in the currently selected object
[presets -> "Used presets"], multi-level presets hierarchy)
- usability improvements (e.g. place node at current GPS position, "Update
all" to update all project OSM files)
- the good karma that someone still updates programs for the N900
Package name and where to find the app/repository: osm2go (the version in the
store is outdated) https://github.com/osm2go/osm2go

Greetings,

Eike

I would like to submit my app, PingYou. It is (or rather, will be) a Telepathy based XMPP client for SailfishOS.

I've focused on implementing features missing from the default Jolla client, which is also Telepathy based. At present, it does a few useful things that you can't do with the Jolla client, namely:
You can't actually use it to chat yet!

PingYou

Hello,
Since the email handling in SailfishOS is open source and since some versions, the email client exposes its proprietary QML files for patching, I've decided to try to implement the GPG signing capabilities into the client. Everything is visible in the Mer Gitlab. The job was quite long (started last spring), or I am too slow, but it is possible now to sign mails and verify received signatures.

I wish to apply for the contest in the Fixing/Updating category. Most of the code for signing was written and debugged in January while the code for verification was done last June.
  • Project name: GPG in email application
  • Author: Damien Caliste
  • Brief description: add signing capability to the native email client.
  • Category: Fixing/Updating
  • Features/work to be judged: addition of GPG framework into SailfishOS, specifically in QMF (email backend), Nemo QML plugin for email, creation of a new Nemo QML plugin to create a QML GPG agent.
  • Package name and where to find the app/repository: everything is distributed in the sign branches of the involved Mer project in Gitlab. The details of the work done and how to use it is available in this Gitlab issue (see last post of today).

I know the project is not ready yet for end-user because I had no time to finish it before the dead-line, but I would like to participate anyway, and I will continue to work on this and try to push modifications upstream.

Hi to all. This is my first posting on Maemo.
I'm applying my small app to the regatta. I'm a Qt developer, Meego N950 and Intex Agua Fish proud onwer.
I'm also working a mobile game, a space ship shotter, but I only have one level working, so probably will not make it in time for the regatta.
Cheers
João

Application submission: Droplet Browser

Project Name: Droplet Browser
Author: Dinesh (saidinesh5@gmail.com or https://github.com/saidinesh5)
Brief description: Droplet browser is a lightweight browser for Sailfish OS.

You can continue scrolling through your events feed or chatting away in your chat app, while it fetches your requested websites in the background. No more switching/peeking back and forth between the browser and your requested app, until the website is ready.

This is not a replacement, but a complementary addition to the Sailfish Browser. (That's why the feature "Double tap to open in Sailfish Browser"!)

Category: Something new
Features/work to be judged: The whole app is made from scratch. (Thanks a lot to leszek and coderus!). That being said, A technical review on the lipstick patch is very much appreciated.

Package name and where to find the app/repository:

The App is basically 2 parts:
1) A lipstick patch to enable support for "Applets layer". You can get it via patchmanager1 as an RPM for https://openrepos.net/content/saidin...s-patchmanager or via. patchmanager 2.0's catalog: https://coderus.openrepos.net/pm2/pr...enable-applets .

2) The main app, which you can get via. https://openrepos.net/content/saidin...roplet-browser .

Source Code:
1) Lipstick patch: https://github.com/saidinesh5/sailfi...enable-applets .
2) Droplet Browser: https://github.com/saidinesh5/harbour-droplet

Why is the Lipstick patch needed? Without it, the app cannot grab keyboard input. It also shows up on your lock screen (The last place you want your browser to be!). Without it, It can still run in the "Fallback mode", But it will nag you with a notification.
