This is a great idea. It would be good to allow the user to define which app starts with MEDIACENTRE (and possibly MAPS).
How would one return to this page from any selected app? A tiny icon in the left corner would also be hard to 'hit' while driving.

Aside from Volume/Brightness, Personal Launcher could be configured to work this way... Or, you could try iTablet.
