Updating to 1.3 hasnt fixed it for me either :C

Update:
ariadne /sbin/ifconfig phonet0 down
ariadne /sbin/ifconfig phonet0 up

seems to fix it up. Unfortunately, my phone undergoes this so often that this fix only works for _less_than_5_minutes_.

This is either hardware, or drivers, or both.
Edit 2:
Idle current consuption shoots into triple digits, so some thread probably dies (cpu usage is not maxed out, ergo not a process at least insofar as htop/top list them). Might also be preventing the system from recovering - since the signal icon shows no network yet the 3.5 icon is showing connecting(blue)

Has a clean flash to PR1.3 fixed this issue for anyone?
(read the 1st few pages to get a good understanding of it's nature)

Some have claimed setting proxy config. to automatic has resolved it for them.
Automatic still needs a proxy address*, but apparently they didn't need to enter that.
Setting to automatic hasn't really made much of a difference for me.
I'm thinking about finding the address to use for automatic to see if that helps.
Failing that I'm wondering if a manual config. will be any better...

In the same section there are 2 options to disable auto-obtain IP/DNS.
I doubt my carrier would be happy to give me a fixed IP address.
But I'm wondering if manually specifying DNS might help too...
Really grasping a straws here....
I doubt any of this will have much of an impact, but I guess it can't hurt trying soon.
Just wondering if others have tried some or all of this with any success?

*manual requires you to enter a proxy address for every protocol (HTTP/HTTPS/FTP etc)

I don't think it has anything to do with proxy settings, but probably rather the hardware/drivers. This issue is incredibly annoying and I decided to see if I could maybe get a better idea of the issue, so I tail'd the syslog for a while and noticed that it would generate an error associated with the GPRS signal. I am still waiting on Nokia to call me back on a support request on the issue.

^Yeah as said really just clutching at straws, haven't tried any of it yet but I doubt it'll help.
There's already a bug ticket or two that's worthwhile reading, see at least the 1st 2 pages of this thread.
I'm going to have refresh my memory by reading it all again soon...

Weird, you sure you're having zero issues with 3g net connection now?
Old back-up would be the last thing I'd expect to fix the problem...

Especially if he wiped the phone.

Sigh. I'm still plagued by this.

Lol I'm wondering if someone put in a doomsday mechanism
