Did you try to make a video call from a PC to a Nokia N900?
Theoretically, it should be possible. In practice, Skype protocols were altered many times since the last update for Skype on Maemo.
Best wishes.
P.S. I do not use Skype since it was bought by Microsoft.

I think to recall a conversation with freemangordon about skype video calls.
Different versions (and OS) could use different video codecs.

If you are using 720p gst libs from here:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=77695
Take care that last version is different from the previous one also for the codecs used in skype video calls.

I posted the "works for me" previous version here:
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...postcount=1350

If you are not using 720p libs, sincerely i have really no idea of what is supposes to work and what not.

Why you have two files tar.gz and zip files? I need to copy both or just one?

just tried it, n900<->n900 works, though video is very laggy, n900<->PC(ubuntu 14.04) semi-works, the video from n900 is visible on the PC, but not the video send from the PC ( I guess skype tries to send the video in format or resolution n900 does not support, didn't investigate further)

Exactly. If you can remember our talk of some month ago, with the latest build of the gst lib, video calls Ubuntu<-->N900 works only in one direction until (often but not always) the N900 hangs up the call or freezes completely.
With the gst version of 12-2011 the same video call works fine in both directions.

If you want to install the 720p libs, the steps described here:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=77695
are the perfect way.
Then, if you still have problems with skype video calls, you can _try_ to replace the libgstdsp.zip with my build
libgstdsp.so_20111220_xes_jpeg_mod.zip posted here: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...postcount=1350 (the tar.gz file in the same post contains the sources of the build)
