I tried to find the latest firmware for n900 but all the firmware links in the wiki appears to be dead.

I have just bought an used nokia n900 and I think it would be wise to flash it before the use. My question is does anyone have a link to the latest firmware? Do I even need to flash the phone? The "about product" says the version is 20.2011.38-1 but I have no idea if this is the latest or not and even if it is already the latest I would like to reflash it.

The only (possibly) working link I could find is:
https://web.archive.org/web/20131117...ev/nokia_N900/ It may not work, since the download rate is only 10-100 KBps but lets see.
However the latest firmware in that page is 20.2010.36-2 so im not sure if it is alder than I already have.

I would like to have the latest Vanilla image and the latest Fiasco image. Can somebody point me the place to find them?

Go ahead with the 2010.36 version. The 2011.38 has only a few certificate changes.
AND please install immediately after that CSSU
https://wiki.maemo.org/CSSU
which is the continuation of community seamless software update.
And it also includes those latest 'official' changes of 2011..38.

And of course adapt the repositories to still available mirrors.
And more...

Please have a look here:

tl;dr: just use the "lazy approach" script.

Thank you all for the answers. I got the 2010 firmware from wayback machine from skeiron.org and it seems to work fine.

Im wondering why the maemo community does not host the necessary tools (flasher) and firmwares themselve. Have it been considered to host those files in this website? Would there be some legal concerns?

Yes legal concerns hence the "my-private-workdir" in the lazy scripts.
