Well the page says;
You may view the Python source code on Github. Bitmessage requires PyQt and OpenSSL. Step-by-step instructions on how to run the source code on Linux, Windows, or OSX is available here.

i downloaded the sources in a folder of N900 and run it (as python don't need to be compiled)
but it needs at least python 2.6 and maemo comes with python 2.5.4.
you can try to install python 2.7 version from extras-devel (http://maemo.org/packages/source/vie...c2-2.1-maemo8/) and see if it works
