I have only noticed that it does this with modest. Every other one mutes it. Muting it is very difficult right now though, since hitting the icon where it shows the current volume is so small and I have no stylus (haven't had one for ages)
And turning offline mode vs turning the wifi module do the same thing, but since wifi is off, there is no point in having the module in memory still (I hope I'm using the correct terms!)
Flight mode has wifi off
green button vs grey button is about 3 or 4MB, I'll take whatever MB I can get.
I've also noticed bluetooth is a bit confusing. I have to turn the module on, then press bluetooth to get it to show up.

The mute button in the test binary is huge, have you tried it?

Just hold down the flight button for 1 second to stop services when entering flight mode.

What do you mean by "turn the module on" and "show up"?

Also, I'm having serious boot problems. I have a lock key on my tablet and when i plug in the tablet for charge mode (off>power charger>turns itself on), desktop is turned off everything is white. Turning on the desktop turns the desktop but some stuff fails to load (bluetooth/wifi icons has this yellow double box thing, never changes). I had to reboot, and now asui won't show up. Power button does nothing anymore except turn off.

The side with the green/gray/yellow circle starts or stops services related to the group. The entire left side of the bluetooth and wifi widgets toggles the hardware on/off when pressed. If the services are stopped then tapping the left side will start them and then toggle the hardware on. If service loading takes too long then you might see some red dots appear under the bluetooth/wifi name but hardware doesn't start. Just tap the left side again.

Starting the services doesn't enable the hardware. If you want the hardware on just tap the name, even if the services are stopped.

Also, I'm having serious boot problems. I have a lock key on my tablet and when i plug in the tablet for charge mode (off>power charger>turns itself on), desktop is turned off everything is white.

ASUI is starting up in the tablet off but charging phase, this is known issue but if you use gconf-editor to enable start_visible then you will see ASUI. Touchscreen doesn't work in this phase so its only good for seeing the clock and battery state. I am working on a fix for this.

Whatever caused the other services to not start has done the same to ASUI.

Asui is starting, however it is dead:
~ $ advanced-systemui

See the manual page for dbus-uuidgen to correct this issue.

Is dbus-daemon running? Use `/etc/init.d/dbus start` if not.

Edit: And don't run ASUI with sudo, login as root to run it.

It is running as messagebus and user, with --system and --session respectively.
Using sudo -s then advanced-systemui still aborts.
Cannot lock tablet. Cannot change sound (too lazy), cannot change brightness (too lazy). Without the lock mechanism my tablet is useless since the leather case is always pushing the screen.
PLEASE FIX ASAP.
Battery life is horrendous since the screen lights up so much!

Update: Alright so it does lock, but it still lights up a ton for me. Dont' think it's related.
I changed in Gconf the C to F temp and the 24 hour to 12 hour, still won't start up. Might want to try rebooting tablet to see if it does anything...?

It works now...

Looks like your problem lies in Gconf settings of either the time or the temp settings (or both) (or none, maybe it just had problems?)

It's working sporatically. Looks like it started working after a bluetooth startup from bluemaemo...

The device is under full load for about 10-20 seconds after desktop appears and it takes a while for the services to reply to the battery and governor requests.

screen brightened up (why?????????????)

When ASUI is started, the brightness is set to the last value you set it to. If the slider doesn't match the brightness of the screen then you probably have the ALS filter active and it doesn't work well with the advanced-brightness code used in ASUI.

Scroll down to the "volume and brightness control" section on the about page for instructions on disabling ALS on the n810. This also fixes the left thumb brightness problem.
