The moblin 2.1 demo was neat.

I am very happy that maemo has found a wonderful friend.

Looking forward to MID's with MeeGo.

Moblin looks way messier, wasting that huge part of screen real estate with the task manager, having a separate "pane" for the applications menu (we went there with all old Maemo versions), non-system wide notification area.

Honestly, I think Maemo's biggest asset right now we're bringing to this MeeGo partnership is the current UI. From what I've seen on those videos, I really hope Maemo 6/MeeGo release one looks like an improved Maemo 5 instead of Moblin. Intel might be bringing a lot of stuff to this partnership, but UI isn't one of them, for mobile devices.

I don't know...I must admit it IS entertaining to now read posts from members here that were SUCH die-hard Maemo-fanatics and how they declared that this was the OS that was going to take Nokia to the top and if you even DARED to question that you were told you were a troll... Now...these same people are declaring MeeGo to be the BEST ever and that THIS is GREAT news.

I bet if I mention that I don't like MeeGo and prefer Maemo I'd be called a troll

There's gonna be separate MeeGo UXs for handhelds and Netbooks. Hopefully, and I think also likely, the handheld UX will mostly draw from Maemo and Netbook UX from Moblin.

Looks decent, but I still like the Maemo 5 GUI much more.
