I don't think so. IMO Jolla wants to tell that mobile device vendors could use Sailfish under licence - with the motivation that Sailfish runs on the same hardware as Android.

I thought that parts of the Sailfish UI isn't open-source, so will a proper port of Sailfish on a N9 even be (ever) possible?

I would be buy a cheap android phone to port sailfish, because i don't think that Jolla phones arrives to my country soon

Yes, that's mainly what their recent public statements are about, predictably folks have been jumping to diff. conclusions.

Read the 1st few pages of this thread....

Folks are getting way too far ahead here, it's unlikely they'll facilitate the easy cooking of customised ROMs for other hw.*
Definitely not in the early days, while they're still trying to build up a decent sized customer base...


*& they'll need to play a part if it's ever to be a viable proposition

This is not so end-users can easily cook their own ROMS for Android devices...
It's a pitch to potential Sailfish_Alliance ODM/OEMs who are currently squarely focused on tailoring their devices for Android.

hell if you want sailfish but your not sure, just do what everybody else does, and see how the community reacts,

Well, latest ubiboot-02 has all the hooks for it...
